The Mary Ellen Dahlen Simon Scholarship

To promote Bemidji State University (BSU) by providing one scholarship each year to a student who is on track to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in the life sciences such as, but not limited to, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Pre-Professional studies in the medical field and Nursing. Scholarship recipients will be selected by a committee responsible for awarding science scholarship funds based on the application and other evidence to show that the applicant meets the criteria of the scholarship. The scholarship is renewable following a reapplication process appropriate to the stated purposes of this scholarship.

It is the donor’s preference that scholarship awardees should have financial need and demonstrated academic merit by maintaining a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA), as well as a passion for pursuing a career and/or an advanced degree in the life sciences field. In order for the scholarship to be renewed, the recipient must demonstrate satisfactory academic standing by maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 and progress towards receiving their degree in a life sciences major from BSU.
