Dave Sorensen Business Scholarship

The Dave Sorensen Business Scholarship shall be awarded annually to a Bemidji State University student who graduated from a Minnesota High School. Preference for this scholarship will be given to students from Northern Minnesota. Recipients are required to have a minimum BSU GPA of2.5, be an active participant in BSU Business Department student activities and have demonstrated leadership skills at BUS and/or in the community. Additionally financial need should be a consideration. The Chair and/or Scholarship Committee of the BSU Business Department shall be responsible for advertising the scholarship and establishing the annual process for selecting the recipient of the Dave Sorensen Business Scholarship. The application process shall include a brief essay response to each of the following questions: 1) How will receiving this scholarship assist in maximizing my learning experience at Bemidji State University? 2) As a result of receiving this scholarship, in what way do I envision using my business degree, talents, abilities and leadership skills to contribute to my community and BSU following my graduation? A student who receives the Dave Sorensen Business Scholarship may reapply in subsequent years, but shall not receive more than two Dave Sorensen Business Scholarship awards. As the endowment fund balance grows and/or as earnings provide, the minimum scholarship award of $1,200 shall increase in $ I 00 increments. The Dave Sorensen Business Scholarship shall not exceed the annual cost of a full tuition and fees scholarship. Once one full tuition and fees scholarship is granted, a second scholarship will be provided once it achieves the $1,200 threshold. Otherwise these funds will be held in the fund and used for future years’ disbursement.
